NHS Treatments

At Airedale Dental Practice in Castleford, we provide NHS Dentistry as well as our Practice Plan membership and Private patient schemes. We do not have any availability for new NHS patients and we do not have a waiting list.

Our NHS dental service provides any treatment needed to keep your mouth, teeth and gums healthy. Decisions about which treatment is appropriate for you will be based on clinical assessment and your Dentist’s clinical judgement. Certain treatments are not available on the NHS (including white fillings on certain teeth outside of a patient’s ‘aesthetic region’, Teeth Whitening, Dental Implants and Invisalign) however NHS patients can still elect to have these treatments on a private basis. Your Dentist will advise you about what treatment you are eligible for on an NHS basis and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

Your NHS Place

Your NHS place is valuable. Please make yourself aware of our ‘De-registration Policy’. If you are de-registered you will no longer have an NHS place with our practice. In these circumstances you will need to contact the NHS to enrol on a waiting list for an NHS practice that is accepting new NHS patients. We do not have a waiting list and are not able to register new patients on the NHS. Our de-registration policy confirms that patients will be de-registered in the following circumstances:

  • Non-attendance for routine dental appointments for two years;
  • Failure To Attend (FTA) two dental appointments in one year;
  • Short Notice Cancellation* (SNC) of three dental appointments in one year;
  • FTA and SNC of two dental appointments in one year.

*SNC – cancellation within 24 hours of your appointment

We operate a zero-tolerance policy for abuse and reserve the right to de-register patients who are abusive to staff members.

How to Keep Your NHS Place

We advise all patients to keep up to their routine dental appointments in the interests of their oral health and also to protect their NHS place. We operate a text and email appointment reminder service to help patients keep track of their appointments. You can help to protect your NHS place by:

  • Attending all your appointments or cancelling well in advance
  • Ensuring you rebook your next appointment before you depart the practice
  • Keeping your contact details up to date
  • If you are caring for a patient please ensure you keep track of their appointments
